Frequently Asked Questions

These are the most common questions I’m asked. If you have additional questions feel free to email me at stephaniekurtykaart@gmail.com

HOW DO I BUY AN ORIGINAL?

I create as many paintings as possible and release them both individually and in collections on my website a few times per year.  This will be well advertised before hand via social media and the insider’s email list.  These paintings tend to go pretty quickly, so be sure to be prompt! Originals will be available here

CAN I COMMISSION A PAINTING?

I am currently accepting a limited number of commissioned projects, for pieces 16" x 20” and larger.  Commissioned paintings typically take 10-12 weeks for completion.  Fill out the form here  for more information about the process and pricing.

PRINT QUALITY & DETAILS

Prints will be coming soon in 2024! It will be announced to my email insider’s list first, so be sure to stayed tuned to those emails!

FRAMING

I do not currently offer framing from my studio, but I highly encourage framing all your prints and originals.  Not only do they look incredibly beautiful framed, but it will help to protect your fresh artwork from wear and dust. If this ever changes, I'll be announcing it to my email insider’s list first, so be sure to stay tuned to those emails!

DON’T FORGET THE MAT. Seriously. Matting your print will make it look SO much more legit and elegant.
You can also display original paintings in a “floater frame” (this is when the frame seems to hover alongside the edge of the canvas artwork.).

HOW IS MY ARTWORK GOING TO BE SHIPPED?

If shipping of your order costs $10+ more than what you paid at checkout, you will receive an additional invoice that must be paid before your order is put in the mail. Thank you for your understanding!

Please read the full Shipping Policy here

Originals

  • Original paintings will be shipped 2-3 weeks from order placement

  • All artwork is wrapped in paper, padded extremely well, and sent in a well-fitting sturdy cardboard box.

  • Most artwork will ship via USPS or UPS, and most packages arrive within 3-5 days (domestic) from time of shipping (includes tracking & insurance). International shipments will be sent via USPS or other carrier. International buyers, please note that shipping charges may vary from the amount you pay at checkout. Please email me with questions or to get an estimate.

Prints

  • Stay tuned! Coming in 2024!

International Shipments

  • Shipping costs cover fees, packaging supplies, time, labor, and storage, and are calculated on a case by case basis and based on package weight and distance. Please contact stephaniekurtykaart@gmail.com to receive an estimate for international shipping charges. You will receive a separate invoice for international shipping charges that costs $10+ more than what you paid at checkout, which must be paid before your order is put in the mail. Thank you for your understanding!

  • International packages are a bit outside of my control. Border fees, duties, and handling fees may be charged by other countries. Tracking is also quite unreliable with international shipments. International shipping usually takes 2-6 weeks or longer via USPS during holidays. Please note: All import duties are the responsibility of the buyer.

CAN I PICK UP MY ARTWORK FROM YOUR STUDIO?

I do not have a public studio or space for artwork to be seen/displayed. However, if you are local to Maryland, please contact me at stephaniekurtykaart@gmail.com to inquire about arranging a time and place to meet up in the Hagerstown/Frederick area so you can pickup your artwork in-person and have the shipping fees waived. Once a time and place are arranged through email communication, you will be provided with a code at checkout to forgo shipping fees. Please note that my in-person pick-up hours are rather limited, as I have a very full workload, but we can usually make it work (especially for original acrylic paintings!).

RETURNS

Every order, commission, and sale is handled with care and as much clarity and transparency as possible.  My goal is for you to be completely thrilled with your purchase! Please read about our return policy here for more information on the process.

Studio Sale and Seconds Sale pieces are final sale. We are unable to accept items that are purchased on sale for return or exchange. We will not be sending individual descriptions and photos of pieces on sale due to being a Seconds Sale item. We’ve carefully checked over each piece to decide if it’s a good fit for the sale price, and any blemish, size variation, add-on (like varnish or margin), has been included in the listing description to give the collector a good idea of what variant includes this piece in this year’s sale. Not all pieces will have all variants or blemishes described.

WHO ACTUALLY OWNS THE PAINTING?

I retain all rights to all artwork I create. This includes the rights to the image of sold & commissioned original paintings. I retain the right to make reproductions of any and all artwork I create unless the Collector has purchased the full or partial rights to the artwork (this is in addition to purchasing the original).

The Collector or buyer may not reproduce the artwork in any way without written permission.

If the artwork ends up being reproduced in a magazine or other media I only ask for credit (and congratulations! that means your home is super beautiful!).

When you purchase an original painting you, the collector, have the right to display the artwork in your home or business (hooray!) but the artwork may not be resold or reproduced without my written permission.

Please let me know if you are interested in purchasing full or partial rights to your painting.  Some collectors choose to purchase my right to reproduce the artwork to ensure it will never become a print.  I am totally happy to discuss that with you if you would like!
