| Drift | 18 x 24
Original acrylic painting by Stephanie Kurtyka. Getting lost in the deep silhouettes of the towering islets against the rich grays of the sky.
Painting inspired by my trip to Southeast Asia. I came across the Dinh Huong Islet while on a cloudy, rainy boat ride through Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. This islet is in the shape of and named after an urn (a sacred symbol in Vietnam), and is thought to be a front-line protector for the rest of the bay. The islet is also a symbol of safety and good luck for all tourists who visit it. The moodiness of drifting along the quiet bay felt surreal and mysterious, like I was in a movie.
